美國總統當選人川普 (Donald Trump) 周日 (4 日) 警告，他將對於在美國裁員、卻將製造工作移往國外的美國企業，課以 35% 的懲罰性重稅。他表示，這是給美國企業的「預先警告」，以免他們犯下「非常昂貴的錯誤」。
川普在推特 (Twitter) 發文寫道，未來美國將大幅刪減企業稅及管制，但「任何離開我們的國家前往他國、開除員工卻在他國開新工廠的企業，同時想將產品賣回美國，卻以為不會受到處罰及承擔後果，他們大錯特錯。」
川普進一步表示，這樣的企業，如果想把他們的產品、汽車或空調零件等等賣回美國，將被課以 35% 的關稅，「這樣的稅將帶給他們財務困難。不過，如果企業只是在美國 50 州內遷移，就不會被課任何關稅。」
川普上周才點名美國零件供應商 Rexnord，指責其計畫將印第安那州的軸承工廠及 300 個工作機會移往墨西哥。他在推文寫道：「印第安那州的 Rexnord 將移到墨西哥，卻可惡地開除 (本地) 所有 300 名員工。這在全美國持續發生，該停止了。」
不過專家們警告，若川普想對特定美國企業課稅，卻未獲得國會同意，將面臨法律挑戰。彼得森國際經濟研究所 (Institute for International Economics) 高級研究員 Gary Hufbauer 便表示，美國法院將阻止川普這樣的行動。
